Shauna Burrow

Shauna Burrow has dedicated herself to learning and living Nonviolent Communication for over nine years after first attending a class with a professor at the University of California, Davis. As Shauna left for lunch, the professor hollered "After today, you will never hear criticism again!" That was the "hook" for Shauna. NVC consciousness aligns with the principles of her religion. Shauna works to be kind, present and honest every day. Shauna retired in 2012 from a full-time job managing a cardiology clinic for 20 years. Hospice has been Shauna's passion since 2006. She served as President of the Board of Hospice of Humboldt until 2012, where she built a 12-bed inpatient facility, so that no one would have to die alone. Since moving to Sonora, California, she has served as a companion to the bereaved on Zoom, in person and through groups. NVC has been a supportive tool in bereavement emphasizing empathy, deep listening, and growing one's capacity to hear other's pain. Shauna has a large family of loving, caring human beings, and is honored to be a mom, G-ma, aunt and sister. Something you would never believe about Shauna: she has raced airplanes, flipped them upside down, towed gliders, and flew to Alaska with a Rand McNally map!
