Authentically Us Explorations: Empathy VIA Metaphor: Colloquial NVC - On Line

For the past six years, RMCCN has been building community and an international presence through our annual Authentically Us training weekend. We envision strengthening that community and our collective capacity to embody nonviolent communication by providing more consistent opportunities for learning and community support.

Each month one of us will share an inquiry that is actively shaping our lives, inviting our growing community of participants, facilitators, and supporters into the exploration. All are welcome to attend. Attendance is free. Donations are gratefully accepted.

This Month: Empathy VIA Metaphor: Colloquial NVC.
Have you ever used classical NVC (OFNR) with someone only to have their eyes glaze over showing disconnection because of the jargon? Did you think “What’s wrong with them?” “They should get it.” “I used perfect NVC!” Sometimes creating an energetic connection using colloquial, everyday language or “Street Giraffe” is more effective.In this session we will explore using vernacular language to help create a quality of connection that allows needs to be met. The focus will be more on the consciousness of NVC rather than the elements, structure or finding the right words. We will practice using figures of speech like idioms, similes and metaphors.There will be whole group interactions, practicing in pairs and sharing successes and challenges.You are invited to join us. Prerequisite

This workshop assumes a working understanding of the NVC Observations, Feelings, Needs, Requests framework.
